School Life

No two young people are the same, so no two days at Valour Park look exactly alike. While each learner has an individual timetable built around their needs, interests and targets, every day is underpinned by the same principles: safety, belonging, curiosity and purposeful learning.

Each morning begins with a calm welcome. We check in with every young person, giving them space to settle, regulate and prepare for the day ahead. For some, this may involve a hot drink and conversation; for others, time outdoors, caring for the animals or engaging in a quiet activity before learning begins.

Our priority is helping every learner arrive feeling safe, ready and connected.

Starting the Day

Throughout the day, young people take part in a broad range of personalised learning experiences. Depending on their programme, this might include:

  • English and mathematics embedded into real-world activities

  • Creative arts, music and design

  • Science through practical investigation

  • Animal care and land-based learning

  • Cooking and nutrition

  • Woodwork, maintenance and practical skills

  • Outdoor education and environmental projects

  • Physical activity and wellbeing

  • Enterprise and employability skills

Learning is practical, hands-on and purposeful. We believe young people engage best when they understand why something matters and can experience success through doing.
